We are seeking a Purchasing Associate to join our team and support Purchasing, sourcing and inventory control.
Position Overview:
The Purchasing Associate assists the Supply Chain, Operations and Maintenance teams by owning administrative tasks in the buying process, such as managing purchase orders, tracking inventory, communicating with suppliers, and ensuring the timely acquisition of necessary materials / services. This role involves researching and evaluating vendors, placing orders, tracking inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery to maintain production schedules and reduce downtime. Additionally, the Purchasing Associate will be critical in leading daily cycle counts, adjusting inventory and communicating scope of impact to all stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Support Operations, Maintenance and Supply Chain creating and managing purchase orders, ensuring they are placed and delivered efficiently
Reconcile master data or PO’s / receipts to support Accounts Payable
Adherence to corporate and local purchasing policies
Daily execution of cycle counts for raw materials and finished goods
Communicate in a professional manner with multiple vendors through all forms of business interaction
Including: Obtaining price quotes, negotiating the best price / terms / conditions. Build/maintain relationships through regular contact partnership
Ensure all essential paperwork (i.e. vendor set-up) is completed in a timely manner, holding a deep sense of accountability and ownership until task(s) is completed
Support execution of the supply chain balancing inventory, supply orders and schedule demand
Provide insight into cost saving measures to management
Prepare and execute negotiated contracts as directed, ensuring documentation is organized
Support the receipt of items as designated upon arrival to the plant against purchase orders
Continually monitor data, working with accounting as a team, to ensure month end data is completed appropriately. Reconcile all discrepancies
Monitor old/unused materials. Partner with Quality, Production, Finance and Supply Chain on the disposal of items
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred
2-4 years of purchasing or inventory experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated prioritization of task and critical thinking skills
Prior experience working with vendors for pricing preferred
ERP/MRP experience preferred, preferably INFOR
Background qualifying suppliers and negotiation experience
Strong attention to detail, organization and time management
Demonstrated clear and succinct written communication
Work prioritization and effective problem-solving skills are critical
Ability to work independently or in a team setting
Role will require on-going walking within a plant and periods of time working within an office setting
