Commercial Door Systems Specialist – Architectural Hardware & Design

Are you passionate about architectural systems and precision in design? We’re looking for a Commercial Door Systems Specialist to play a key role in the review, configuration, and technical support of door and door hardware solutions for major commercial projects. This position supports internal teams and customers by ensuring door system designs meet functionality, compliance, and client expectations — all while keeping projects on track and on spec.

You’ll be the go-to expert on door hardware applications, specifications, and compatibility across a range of innovative aluminum and building products.

Key Responsibilities:

Review door and hardware specifications during estimating, order entry, and production phases

Prepare hardware quotes, submittals, and quality assurance checks for architectural material proposals

Provide expert guidance to internal and external customers on proper hardware applications

Interpret architectural plans, shop drawings, and installation instructions to ensure accuracy

Coordinate with door hardware vendors for pricing, procurement, and specification updates

Maintain knowledge of all door-related product lines and their integration with hardware

Track project timelines, communicate proactively, and help meet customer delivery expectations

Stay updated on hardware code changes, ADA compliance, hurricane/blast standards, and industry best practices

Keep internal hardware databases and compatibility tools current

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

5+ years of experience in door estimating, door take-offs, or commercial door/hardware supply

Strong understanding of door hardware compatibility and architectural systems

Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings accurately

Knowledge of ADA requirements, building codes, and installation guidelines

Strong communication skills and customer-service orientation

Organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience using technical product platforms preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

Two- or Four-year degree in a related field OR 3+ years in the commercial door/hardware industry

Prior experience with aluminum architectural products

Familiarity with design platforms like KaluCad or similar estimating/configuration tools

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000
